It started pretty well!

Last week, I bought that car I posted pictures a while ago. Alfa 156 GTA, wonderful car, well maintained, all in all a good buy.I went down to my Mum's place on Monday to show it to her.
It was good to see that they haven't got rid of their old habits, meaning a 2 hours aperitif! I had an excellent whisky, Ballantine's original character, 47% proof!.Pretty good stuff, as the bottle was empty I had another swig of the other bottle in the back ground. Then we enjoyed ourselves with a home-made seafood quiche
Yesterday, I came back to Paris and picked Uta up at work. As we haven't seen each other a lot recently, I decided to treat us to a restaurant. After a little talk, our choice came to le Petit Thiou, an excellent seafood Thai restaurant on the left bank which I wanted to go to for a while.
Then it all went wrong. I took a wrong turn (yes it's possible for a concierge in one of the best hotel in the world to misplace a street) and ended up on Boulevard Saint Germain. Traffic lights red, then green and as I started to move, a pedestrian, completely unaware of road lighting code, crossed in front of me. I had to brake, didn't I? Thing is the big delivery van behind me didn't see it and rear ended me. Result :back to pedestrian life again!! Bloddy pedestrian, when are they going to learn not to cross when the light is green? Then again, it's Paris and everyone is doing what he pleases. Thank to full coverage insurance, it won't cost me a thing! I just hope there no serious damage to the car. It would be a shame to let it go as a wreck just one week after buying it!
If so, beware dumb, colorblind pedestrian, next time I won't be so courteous!

Chilling out

Here I am just awake and in front of the computer. I'm listening to some good trance music I picked up on generationtrance.com, a wicked site where you can download mixes from DJ GT and Project C, 2 excellent DJ from the States. It's just what I need to wake me up.
I'm back on the healthy way, going to the gym, even to the pool yesterday. I swam 2 Km and I'm quite prood of that. I miss going out mainly because I'm doing night shift all month. I hardly see Austen and Adrian apart from 5 minutes at work at the beginning or end of my shift. We really need to get something sorted out mates!
Thank Austen and Anonymous reader, who I believe to be Adrian, for your support in buying my new car. Ok it looks tuning but it's original from the factory, not some dumb Portuguese guy who put a spoiler on the boot and painted it gold so it looks faster! IT IS FASTER without the boot spoiler! Ah! Anyway we'll see who's going to be first at your place mate! And who's going to lose his driving license doing so!

I want that one please!

Just came back from testing the car and it's the dog's b#?!@cks! I drove it and that's powerful. It handles like a kart. Look at the pictures to convince yourself. This car is very well maintained. The guy who's selling it is a maniac. He had the covers of the rear mirror re-painted because they were scratched! So now it's up to you, Mr Banker, to get me that loan because that baby is mine!

Drouant

Around for many decades, Drouant is now one of the place to go. Since famous Alsace chef Antoine Westermann took over that institution the restaurant is on the top of every gourmet's list. The fixed price menu that made the first parisian restaurant, Mon Vieil Ami, famous is back there. At 67€ (25€ for starter, 30€ for main course and 12€ for dessert) for dinner, one might say it's a bargain for the quality of food presented. You have the choice for starter between 4 "families", vegetables, fish, classic and international. The starter comes in 4 little dishes and every one of them is excellent! Uta had the fish, consisting in Saint-Jacques
, Ray "terrine"
, cumcumber and shells soup and raw sardines in honey.
I had the "4 coins du monde" starter with "sot l'y laisse" prepared like a tajine
, Italian tart
, red tuna and beef thai style.
Then for main course we had the porc and the lamb. The porc was poached and grilled, very tender and not dry.
My lamb was a bit disappointing, a lot of fat and nerves.
The main course comes with 4 "cocottes" of vegetables, Roman style gnocci, celery
, leek with cream and steamed vegetables
Service was very good too attentive and discret.
And now I'm off to Beauvais to check on an Alfa 156 GTA, maybe my next car if my banker allows me to have a loan!

Night shift

5:51am and bored to death. I spent the last 2 hours looking for a place to go on holidays next month and I don't know where we're going to end up yet. We have to save money for the wedding, so we are going on a budget.
I even found a few interesting ads for a new car, especially one. I need to phone my bank tomorrow to see if I can get a loan. I also have to check with the insurance company how much it will be to insure an Alfa 156 GTA!
Highlight of the night : Pharrell Williams wanted two massages at 5am! With female "therapists" of course, you dirty little rapper!!!
