Dominique Bouchet

Last wednesday Uta and I went to this bistronomique place and we were in for a treat! Yann the manager and Benjamin welcomed us like old friends and in a restaurant that makes the difference. After dribbling for about 30 minutes on the menu and finding out that we were actually going to order the same dish, Benjamin came to save us from arguing by suggesting to let him do the talk. Along came the tasting menu with dishes that kept getting better and better. To accompany this wonderful dinner, Mickael the sommelier got us a very tasty Beaujolais : Fleurie. The perfume was so powerful it could have knocked Coco Chanel out with a nose bleed! A wine I didn't know and which I am most likely to buy when the occasion comes.
Back to the food now! To start light, we had the Chataigne with Coco's milk and Truffle soup. It was Heaven in a spoon. Then we had the Os à Moëlle with panfried Foie Gras on a leek bed. The Boudin noir came as a surprisingly excellent dish as I usually hate boudin noir. This was powerful yet smooth with the cooked apple. And along came the best dish of all, the, sorry I can't remember the name in English, Bar with capers and olive oil with lime and vanilla dressing. The Lobster canelloni was a bit of a disappointment, thus we were glad as it was the dish we were about to choose in the first place. Very tasty but I think that one piece was enough. Then the signature dish, the one that makes people travel a long way for, the 7 hours lamb, marinated for 24 hours before being cooked for 7 hours. The time came for dessert and we had a pear with caramel ice cream which was just right after those excellent dishes. After dinner Benjamin took us next door where Dominique Bouchet opened a store: Wa-Bi salon. His love for Japan shows not only in his cooking, meticulous and refined, but also in that store that sells Sake, green tea and all the accessory. In the back of the shop hides a real kitchen fitted for 8 people maximum. If you have 200€, you may spend them here and have the pleasure to see Dominique Bouchet himself preparing lunch or dinner just for you! They also offer flower arrangement lesson, Japanese style of course. If you haven't been, then you are missing on one of the greatest food experience in Paris. And if you're not convinced yet, just look at the picture and be careful not to dribble on your keyboard!

Sunday at work

Work is going pretty slowly at the moment. I'm bored. "What can I do today? Are shops open today? Where is the nearest church?"
On the other hand, I hope that France will do better than England (which shouldn't be to hard, Ah!)
